Last week, our 3rd year PhDs were in Costa Rica to take part of the 2017 SMS Special Conference on “Collaborative Strategies: New Thinking about Alliances, Mergers, and Acquisitions”.

Laura, Rajiv, Roscoe and Yahya presented a paper they have been collectively working on: a meta-analysis of the alliance-performance relationship and the key roles of firms’ home country institutions on this relationship.

In collaboration with Jean-Luc ARREGLE, from em lyon, Marc van ESSEN, from University of South Carolina and Patricio DURAN, from Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez, the paper makes important contributions in terms of identifying the presence of statistically and practically significant main effects, explaining the relationship for firms from emerging and developed countries and examining the moderating effects of firms’ home country formal and informal institutions.
